Luzardo’s first-pitch changeup caught too much of the plate, and Soto made him pay, sending the ball off his bat at 107.7 mph, with a Statcast-projected distance of 384 feet. Remarkably, even before joining the Yankees in December, Soto had shown a penchant for power in the Bronx, tallying four homers and a double in 23 at-bats at Yankee Stadium from 2018 to 2023.
